Title: Peer Counselor- Miami
Location: Miami Program, FL


Job Summary:
The Peer Counselor under supervision will serve as advocate helping participants determine needs and solutions for independent living.

Credentials, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
There are no minimum education requirements for this position. Ability to interact with people in a community center environment. Must have an active interest in advocacy of persons with mental illness. Experience with mental illness. Computer knowledge preferred.

Essential Functions:
Work closely with participants providing person centered, individualized assistance to each participant to reach their highest level of recovery and independence as defined in the recovery based treatment/life plan. Assist with the planning and implementation of programs and activities at the Training, Education & Employment Center. Continuously work to improve standards and services and ensure referrals through proactive outreach. Ensure that the center is open as scheduled, managed safely, and clean and presentable. Pro-actively assist with identifying participant's educational, training and employment and community support needs. Lead or facilitate support life skills groups. Maintain all related documentation as required.

Normal Working Hours and Conditions:
40 workweek. Occasional weekend or evening as required. Some travel may be required.

Rate of Pay:
This is an hourly position with an entry level rate of minimun wage per hour.
